 darker than it looks, not cushioned inside at all Dec 07, 2010

This box is just what it looks like, only I think the wood is darker than it looks in the pictures here. I am also surprised that it is just plain wood inside, with a wood divider so you can put two bottles of wine in it, which fit perfectly. I just would feel better about the bottles being protected by the box if the wood was lined with some kind of cushioning or cloth, which it isn't.

As a previous reviewer mentioned, the gold isn't quite so bold as it appears in the picture, but I thought it was perfect. I got this for my fiance who used to always store special things in a shoe box (pictures of us, letters, etc.) So I didn't actually get this to store wine. I know a previous reviewer noted that the inside is not padded which concerned him for the protection of the wine bottles. However, this is not an issue for me since we aren't storing wine in it, so I'm giving this 5 stars.

Looks absolutely nothing like the picture. There are no guilded (gold tone) details as the picture shows, it's quite plain actually. Very disappointed with it.

I bought two of these chests for Christmas gifts and they were an absolute hit. They are beautiful and well built. Highly recommended as a special way to present your friends favorite wines.
