 Sturdy stand for heavy display pieces Nov 14, 2010

I purchased the 8" acrylic base with only a little hope that it could hold up my 10x14" Le Creuset Stoneware Deep Dish Baker. I haven't weighed the baker, but Amazon lists its shipping weight as 8 lbs, which may be a bit generous. I am happily surprised that the bulky dish is securely displayed on this stand, and I am confident there is no chance of a topple. The acrylic feet are substantial enough to handle the heaviest of items, but not too bulky that they take away from the aesthetic appeal of the stoneware.

 Possible faulty construction led to breakage Dec 11, 2010

I bought two. One broke right away. I put a heavy base plate on it and as I was positioning the two together on a hutch, one of the feet (in front) broke off. The feet are not all one piece with rest of the holder. They are glued on or something. The other holder seems okay -- I checked the strength of the feet and they seem strong. I put a bigger plate on the holder that broke and a smaller one on the one that didn't, but I think the problem is with the product itself. Some may be faulty in their construction. By the way, there were two reviews about the holder when I decided to buy it. One was that the holder was sturdy and the second was that the holder broke within a day. The second review is gone now. Wonder what happened to it. I would be very happy with this product if it didn't break. It is deep and allows a heavy piece to lean back a bit for what seems to me a more secure display.

This stand is great, study and portable. very nice except my husband took it over to read at the table, have to get another! Less expensive than other sites.
