Is it crystal? Jun 01, 2009
By Terrie Jackson This acrylic butter dish looks like crystal, without the oops
of breakage. Can be placed on any dinner table with pride.
The shipping was fast and I was more than pleased.

Nice looking but there is a big con Dec 26, 2010

This butter keeper looks very nice, but to keep it that way you have to hand wash it. It is not dishwasher safe (the item description says hand wash). If you want a butter keeper you can throw in the dishwasher, look elsewhere. I don't mind hand washing this, so I like it just fine, and it does look nice enough to use on the table.

Great start, but after 2 months in the trash Feb 17, 2011

We own a glass butter dish that we're forever dropping. The smooth glass top just slips out of buttered fingers and breaks. I went looking for a butter dish that had a handle and found this one. It has a handle, ridges to make the top easier to hold on to, and is also acrylic so if you DO drop it, no big deal.
I really liked it when we first got it. The handle is a joke - much too small to grab (maybe 1/4" tall) but the ridging on the top made it easy to grab, even with butter fingers (and it doesn't hurt that the top is more lightweight). It looked attractive and I wasn't embarrassed to have it on my table.
We always washed it on the top rack of the dishwasher, and honestly I think it's only been washed perhaps 10 times since we bought it. It's now covered in hairline "cracks" - it isn't broken, but it looks like shattered glass in there. It's no longer attractive enough to use and I've decided to toss it. Too bad!

Save your money Jan 03, 2010
By LGB In MN This looks great at first even though the "handle" on the top is too small to grasp. But, after one pass in the top rack of the dishwasher, it has developed numerous hairline cracks giving it a spider web appearance! Save your money and don't buy this piece of garbage.
Nice Acrylic Butter Dish Feb 04, 2012

Although I don't agree with others that this butter dish can be used at a formal table setting, it is lovely, well-made and ideal for your day-to-day butter dish. It's shorter length (although it holds a full stick of butter) is ideal for the refrigerator, where it leaves room to stack wrapped butter sticks awaiting use. Quite a bargain!
